Stand on top of the world at The Bluff

The Bluff Encounter Bay

With its dramatic coastal scenery, rich Indigenous and European history, and opportunities for whale watching and hiking, The Bluff is one of Victor Harbor’s most memorable and wild destinations.

Standing 97 metres above Victor Harbor, The Bluff offers spectacular 360-degree views – from Granite Island to the rugged southern coastline. Take the scenic loop road or enjoy a short 600-metre hike to the summit for sunsets, stargazing, and, between June and October, migrating whales.

Rich in history, the Ramindjeri people were drawn here by abundant sea life, and later, whaling and mining left their mark. On the western side, Petrel Cove is the perfect starting point for the southern end of the famous Heysen Trail. With dramatic cliffs, geology shaped over 500 million years, and coastal wildlife, The Bluff is a must-visit for adventurers and nature lovers alike.
