Kondoli Lantern Parade

June 20 @ 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm ACST

Kondoli Lantern
On a winter evening in June, the streets of Victor Harbor will glow. 🐋✨

The Kondoli Lantern Parade is one of Winter Whale Fest’s signature community events, bringing residents and visitors together on 20 June for a vibrant celebration of light, creativity and shared storytelling.

Inspired by the Ngarrindjeri Dreaming story of Kondoli – the whale who gifted fire to the people – the parade invites participants to create and carry illuminated lanterns, costumes and torches from Railway Terraceto the community gathering at Warland Reserve. Reflecting the festival’s strong cultural foundation and collaborative spirit, the event showcases contributions from local schools, artists, performers and community groups, celebrating both the region’s rich First Nations heritage and its contemporary creative talent.

As a highly visible and participatory event, the Kondoli Lantern Parade plays a key role in activating the town centre, enhancing the winter visitor experience and reinforcing Victor Harbor’s identity as a vibrant coastal destination during the cooler season.
