Inman Valley is a natural paradise, perfectly situated close enough to the modern comforts of home, yet secluded enough to immerse yourself fully in nature. Wander the wild trails of the Inman Valley or cruise through lush farmland by bicycle, breathing in the crisp country air.
Things to do in the Inman Valley
Explore Spring Mount Conservation Park where you might spot an Eastern Grey Kangaroo hopping through the trees or a cheeky Blue-Tongue Lizard hiding amongst the dense vegetation. Admire the diverse natural flora and the vibrant natural wildflowers. Take a moment to breathe in the crisp country air; after all, there’s nothing else quite like it.
For a more challenging hike, trek the whole way along the Heysen Trail, where flat back country and farmland give way to hilly paths over rugged terrain. At the top, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views out across the Gulf of St Vincent.
Visit the historic Glacier Rock (also known as Selwyn Rock), a 500-million-year-old boulder that was transported on glacial ice all the way from Victor Harbor. The unique grooves and scratches on the rock tell an interesting tale about how it travelled, attracting geologists and nature lovers from far and wide.
This natural landmark is believed to be one of the largest glacial exposures in the world.
Inman Valley is also the perfect camping spot, with multiple sites available. Pitch a tent and star gaze with your loved ones and a cup of hot chocolate. Relax in the secluded country atmosphere and enjoy the escape from the stress of life in the city.
Stop at one of the lookouts in the local area and gaze upon the glories of nature. Inman Valley is the ideal base to explore further afield in the local area. Myponga is just around the corner, where you can visit the historic town, take a leisurely stroll through the markets and pick up a local treasure or two, or take in the view from the Myponga Reservoir.
Visit bustling Victor Harbor, catch a wave at nearby Waitpinga, or venture to McLaren Vale to try one of Australia’s best wines or sample some fresh local produce.
