Victa Cinema 100 Year Celebration

Victa Cinema will celebrate it’s 100^th birthday on Friday, 24 November 2023 with a special gala screening of The Great Gatsby.

Ocean Street to be closed from 3pm from Coral Street to Avondale Deli with stalls, vintage cars and 1920/30’s furniture, transporting patrons back to the Cinema’s original era!

Entertainment will be provided by South Coast Coral Arts Society with their band playing music, actors dressed in period costumes as photographers, ushers, dancers and more.

Road closure 3pm

5.30pm – 7.00pm Pre-screening event in Ocean Street including.

• SCCAS actors performing as Ushers, FOH and Photographers, in 1920s attire.
• FOH people to mingle with patrols
• SCCAS musical ensemble/quartet to perform songs from the 20s/Jazz style
• SCCAS dancers performing 20’s Charleston and other dances. Demonstrate dance and invite guests to join in.
• All Sweets and Treats stand with ice cream, candy and popcorn.
• Cinema Candy Bar open
• Other food and beverage to be confirmed.

6.00pm – 6.20pm – Formalities

7.00pm – Adverts and cartoon start

• SCCAS ‘Staff’ with candy trays, ice creams etc.

7.15pm – The Great Gatsby screening start

8:30pm-ish (tbc) – Intermission

• Entertainment in Ocean Street TBC
• SCCAS ‘Staff’ with candy trays, ice creams etc.
• All Sweets and Treats stand with ice cream, candy and popcorn.
• Birthday Cake

8.50pm – Intermission bell – 10-minute warning

9:00pm – Recommence Film
